Meet Paul Pelletier!
With a lifelong passion for lighting, technology, and creativity, Paul Pelletier brings decades of expertise to the art of performance lighting. His journey began at just 14 years old, running sound for local bands and events. The introduction of intelligent moving lights in the late 1980s sparked a fascination that would shape his career.
In 1992, Paul’s path intersected with Martin Professional, a pioneering Danish lighting manufacturer, at the LDI Tradeshow in Dallas. That first encounter evolved into a long and impactful collaboration. By 1995, Paul had joined the Canadian distributor for Martin Professional as a Product Specialist, working closely with the manufacturer on cutting-edge projects and control solutions. His contributions spanned from LightJockey and MLD to MSD, MAXXYZ, the M-Series, LED-Trix, and more—playing a key role in shaping some of the industry's most widely used tools until 2017.
In 2017, Paul joined Chroma-Q as Brand Manager, helping to shape the company’s direction in high-performance LED lighting for touring, theatre, and film. Since 2024, he has taken on the role of Vice President of R&D, leading a team of dedicated engineers focused on developing the next generation of professional LED fixtures. Under his leadership, Chroma-Q continues to innovate in both fixture and lighting control technologies, including the Vista by Chroma-Q platform.
A self-taught developer, Paul began writing custom software in Delphi in the 1990s. What started as a personal project soon gained a following—most notably with LD Calculator, released in 1997 and still used by professionals around the world today. He also created powerful tools like LJ Manager and M-Series Manager, reflecting his deep understanding of the needs of lighting professionals.
Outside of lighting, Paul is an avid photographer with a collection of over 400 film and digital cameras. His fascination with photography goes beyond capturing moments—it's about preserving the history and craft behind the lens. Each camera in his collection tells a story, much like the lighting systems he's helped shape.
While his busy schedule has slowed software updates in recent years, Paul hopes to revisit and enhance his original applications in the near future.
